As a long-time fan of the Legend of Zelda series, I have played and loved many of the games in the franchise. However, there is one game that stands out to me as not only necessary, but also one of the best: Gamecube’s Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess.
First and foremost, Twilight Princess was a much-needed return to a darker and more mature tone for the series. After the success of Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask, many fans were disappointed with the lighter and more cartoonish style of Wind Waker. Twilight Princess brought back the grittier atmosphere that made Ocarina and Majora’s Mask so beloved.
Additionally, Twilight Princess introduced new gameplay elements that added depth to the already well-established formula. The ability to transform into both a wolf and a human gave players a unique perspective on exploration and puzzle-solving.
